Red Clay Sculptures

Working primarily with the additive process, students created sculptures of their choice for the first time!

Finding inspiration from artists Mark Jenkins and George Segal students created their own installation artworks.

Construction Challenge!

With restricted time an d materials, students created 3 dimensional art.  

a pORTRAIT sTUDY

Students facial feature study sketchbook assignments have helped prepare students for their portrait drawings.  After practicing facial proportions as a class, students drew mini-self portraits, and a larger portrait of their choice. 

Batik - A Fabric dying method

Students experimented with several materials and then created an artwork of their choosing!

Students created original designs for a 2 layer print.

Reductive Drawings

Finding inspiration from artist and college professor Shelby Shadwell,
2D students experimented with a new technique, reductive drawing. 

Spray Paint STencils

Inspired by street artist, Banksy, students created a 4 color spray paint stencil. 

Experimental ARt

Finding inspiration from artist Phil Hansen students experimented with the application of materials.  For example, many students applied paint or ink with wood blocks, yarn, twine, plastic tags, guitar picks, etc.  Students when then encouraged to use a dry material, (pastel, charcoal) to create depth within their piece. 
Materials: Ink, tempra paint, conte crayon, soft pastel, oil pastel, watercolor, water, plastic tags, rafia, wooden blocks,
cotton balls, guitar picks, cardboard, packing material.

A Study of Architecture 

Construction Challenge

Students were challenged to choose one material (dixie cups, matches, straws, Popsicle sticks, plastic spoons, etc) and one adhesive (hot glue, elmers glue, or tape) and create something 3 Dimensional.  Students had 4 days to complete the project.
